Diego López: “I hope they enjoy the Valencia CF Academy World Cup”
The Valencia CF striker is this year's ambassador
VCF Juvenil A come into their second week of preseason with their sights set on the opening friendly fixtures of the summer. The Grupo VII winners in the División de Honor play their first such game this Thursday.
New faces in preseason, with the usual transition of players to VCF Mestalla and the arrival of talents from VCF Juvenil B and VCF Cadete A, plus additions from other clubs, have been accompanied by a change in the dugout, as Paco Cuenca is promoted to the position of coach.
"It's a great responsibility and a very important challenge, but we have been working hard from day one to make it go as well as possible," he explains. In his eighth season at the VCF Academy and after having been part of different coaching teams, Cuenca now assumes a more prominent role.
“There is a lot of talent and there are very good players at VCF Juvenil A, and that shows the good work done over all these years in the VCF Academy. The challenge now is to be able to continue helping the players to improve in that last step before reaching professional football."
Last season, Juvenil A players Jesús Santiago Yellu and Mario Domínguez both debuted for the first team.
"We demand the players give the maximum every day. We are working to form a great group," concluded Cuenca.
